PRODUCT INFO
Grand prix the beginning The first entry into the history of car racing, the victory of horsepower without horses. Go ahead gentlemen, the world awaits you! The racers speed along trackless roads and deserted landscapes to win the most exalted of prizes, and the glory for being the most daring of drivers. Henry, René, Morris, Jean le Chauffeur and Mr. Bugatti are competing against the obstacles and each other, each according to his own style. The first and greatest race in the annals of history can only be won by someone who, defying all odds, manages to drive his automobile over the finish line. We can admit though, that beside their skills, the racers have to possess a fair amount of luck as well. A tactical game for children above six. For 2-5 players. Duration of the game: approx. 20 minutes The aim of the game: to win the Grand Prix trophy! Preparation for the game: Every player has to choose a racer and take the 6 cards of the chosen racer. These cards should be hidden from prying eyes during the game. Now, take the obstacle cards (pot-hole, glass shards, rock slide, mud, tacks) and place them on the racing track. One square can hold only one obstacle and there has to be at least one free square between two obstacles. Take into account the three fixed obstacles already on the track too! (collapsed bridge, skidded-out car and river). Keep one square distance from these too! Place the obstacles on the area before the Finish Line, not on the deceleration area. (This section is marked with dark brown color on the track). How to play the game: place the racers on the checked start line beside the board. The cards numbered from 1 to 6 are there to replace the dice. This time it is you and not fortune who can decide how many squares you move forward! Don’t forget to count the squares in your head before you choose the card, to avoid driving over obstacles! After choosing the card, put it face down before you. The others should do the same. Reveal the cards together and the player who has the lowest number can move his racer first. The racer with the highest number moves last. If you have the same number, the player who is furthest behind can move first. If this happens at the start, the youngest player among the ones with the same number can move first. The cars can only be moved according to the number on the chosen card. Every square has to be used. For example: If you have chosen the card with the number 3 on it, you have to move forward 3 squares, you can’t move 1 or 2 squares! The occupied squares and obstacles have to be counted in the moves. If the car of another player stands on the square you are about to move to, move it backward to the nearest free square. If your car would finish its movement on a space with an obstacle (also fixed obstacles), it remains on the space from which it started the movement (i.e you miss your turn). Place the used cards face down before you and use only the remaining ones. When the last card is used you can pick up all the used ones and start from the beginning. It is worthwhile to remember what cards your opponents used, so that you can anticipate how many squares they can move ahead in a turn, and how soon they can catch up to you or push you back on the track. The end of the game: The game is over when one or more cars pass the Finish Line before the bridge. The player who manages to pass the finish line first is the winner. If more then one car passes through the finish line at the same time, the one who got furthest on the exit section is declared the winner. The game cannot end before all the players have moved their racers in the final turn! Only this way can it be certain who is the winner. If the card shows a higher number than the squares required to reach the finish line, the car has to be placed on a free square after the finish line according to the number on the card. Again, only one car can occupy a square and the new arrival pushes the car already occupying the square backward. contents: 1 Game Board, 5x6 pcs. Cards, 5 small wooden cars with drivers, 1 Cup, 5 Obstacles
